How to take inspiration for designing any product or range!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all doing splendidly today! In this blog post, I want to delve into the fascinating world of finding inspiration for your design projects. Before you embark on any creative endeavor, it's crucial to discover that spark that will ignite your imagination. Everything about your project will revolve around the inspiration you choose, so let's explore  "How to take inspiration for designing any product or range ".

However, before taking any inspiration we do some research work.

The Power of Research

First and foremost, let's emphasize the importance of research. Whether you're designing a product, crafting artwork, or engaging in any creative work, research serves as the foundation of your inspiration. But the question arises: should you get inspired first and then research or research first to get inspired? Well, there's no one-size-fits-all answer, as it often depends on your personal creative process.

Basically Four types of inspiration we take:-

Four Types of Inspiration

Tangible Inspiration: Tangible inspiration is real and touchable; it's something you can experience with your senses. Think of awe-inspiring architectural wonders like the Taj Mahal or the intricate beauty of a gold temple. Even nature itself – the trees, flowers, birds, and animals – can be a rich source of tangible inspiration.

Imaginary Inspiration: On the flip side, there's imaginary inspiration – those fantastical ideas that exist only in the realm of your mind. It includes your dreams, imagination, mythical creatures, and ghosts from folklore.

Expressional Inspiration: Expressional inspiration can be found in the realm of expression, whether it's through language, genetics, the human face, or the arts. Consider the inspiration drawn from a beautiful song or a moving poem.

Cultural/Traditional Inspiration: Lastly, cultural or traditional inspiration is derived from the rich tapestry of cultures worldwide. It encompasses elements like Bohemian, punk, or the traditions of various tribes from different regions.

I would love to tell you how I get inspired!

Trend Forecasts and Research: I keep a keen eye on trend forecasts from sources like Vogue, Pinterest, Instagram, Moda Operandi, and Aza Fashion. Staying updated on the latest collections and styles is key.

Competitive Brand Analysis: I also follow competitive brands and develop themes inspired by them. While not identical, my themes are aesthetically related to create a cohesive look.

Thinking Out of the Box: For unique and innovative ideas, I merge entirely different concepts. For example, I once blended women's ethnic blazer coats with western pencil skirts to create a fresh and exciting fashion fusion.

Art Forms and Images: Sometimes, I draw inspiration from various art forms, paintings, architecture, or striking images. It's incredible how a single image can spark a world of creativity.

My design collection was based on "The Indian Chameleon" and I developed the whole range based on it. I also got "THE MOST CREATIVE AND INNOVATIVE DESIGN COLLECTION AWARD" for this range. you can go through this link to view my complete process and design collection range:-
